As a home canner myself, I understand what it’s like to open a cupboard and realize you had a forgotten case of pickles or jams that have been hiding away for years! Taking inventory of your canning jars is a great way to make the most of your hard work.
To minimize food waste and help keep your food as fresh as can be, I wanted to share this printable canning inventory list.
It’s pretty simple – just print off the page and start adding the names, jar sizes, and dates of your canned foods. This is the most helpful for me at the beginning of canning season to understand what I need to make (and what we still have enough of), but you can use it any way you’d like!
It also includes a canning supplies list to make sure you have everything you need in anticipation of canning season. It’s so convenient!
How to Use Printable Canning Inventory Chart
1. Download and print as many copies of the inventory charts as you need.
2. Go through your canning pantry and write down the names, sizes, and canning dates for any homemade jams, salsas, soups, and more. This is also a great time to check your seals and discard any foods that are no longer in good condition.
3. Use this information to either plan future meals (put it on the fridge to know what you have), map out your upcoming canning projects, or plan your garden to know what to grow.
