Equipment
You don’t need any fancy tools for this easy lavender cocktail recipe! You just need a glass, a shot glass, and a spoon. If you’re adding the optional sugar garnish, you’ll want a small flat dish.
For glassware, feel free to use your favorite cocktail glass. It’d be lovely in a coupe glass or a simple mason jar. You’ll see in these photos that I used small vintage jam jars that have turned purple with age. Aren’t they cute?
Ingredients
- Lavender liqueur: This homemade lavender-infused liquor adds a touch of lavender flavor and a nice sweetness that mellows out the tart lemon. It’s made by infusing culinary lavender buds in vodka for a month, then sweetening the mixture with a homemade simple syrup.
- Vodka: Choose your favorite vodka to make sure you don’t hide the lavender flavor.
- Fresh lemons: A little lemon juice brightens the cool, subtle flavor of lavender and makes this drink so yummy.
- Ice: Ice makes this such a refreshing cocktail on a hot day!
- Sparkling water: Choose regular soda water or sparkling water. I usually just use my SodaStream for this part.
- Lavender sugar: Add an optional sugar rim of my homemade lavender sugar, made by blending fresh lavender flowers with cane sugar. It’s so easy and makes this drink extra pretty.
- Food coloring: If you’d like to make the drink more obviously purple, add a few drops of purple food coloring.
- Optional garnishes: Grab some fresh lavender sprigs, a lemon wheel, or a little fresh mint for a unique twist.

FAQs
How many servings does this lemon lavender cocktail recipe make?
This recipe is meant to make one serving. If you’d like to increase the batch size, simply multiply the quantities based on the number of people you are serving.
Especially if you’re serving this recipe at a party, you can fill a cocktail shaker with enough lavender liqueur, vodka, and lemon juice for 3-4 drinks. Shake it well and pour the mixture into as many glasses as you need. Top with the sparking water and stir.
Can I make this lavender cocktail ahead of time?
To an extent, yes. I’d recommend adding the sparkling water right before serving as it can go flat. Feel free to combine the other ingredients separately for easy serving.
Can I make this recipe with lavender simple syrup?
If you don’t have the time or energy to make my lavender liqueur, make a homemade lavender syrup following these instructions.
How to Make Lavender Simple Syrup
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat 1/4 cup of dried culinary grade lavender, 1 quart of water, and 4 cups of sugar.
- Cook until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally. Once the sugar is dissolved, turn off the heat.
- Let the syrup steep for a few hours and cool to room temperature.
- Strain into a jar using a fine-mesh strainer.
Replace the lavender liqueur in this classic cocktail with the lavender simple syrup. This will make your drink a little less alcoholic, too.
If you’re lucky to find pre-made lavender syrup at your local grocery store, you can use that as well.
