Ingredients

  • Liquid: I prefer to use vodka in my room and linen sprays because I have a lot on hand for making extracts. Plus, it’s naturally antibacterial and dries very quickly. You can use rubbing alcohol, witch hazel or distilled water, but be sure to add a splash of alcohol to the water to prevent mold and bacteria from growing.
  • Eucalyptus essential oil: Choose high-quality therapeutic-grade oil. I prefer to use Plant Therapy because they are easy to order and on the same level as much more expensive oils you’d buy elsewhere!

Which type of eucalyptus oil should I use?

If you’ve ever Googled eucalyptus oil, you’ve probably noticed how many types there are! Honestly, it’s a bit overwhelming. If you’re using this spray as an air freshener or linen spray, it really doesn’t matter.

However, the different types of eucalyptus have subtle differences. If you only want to own one type, it’s helpful to get a general overview of the different eucalyptus oils out there.

  • Eucalyptus radiata: This type of eucalyptus is slightly milder than globulus and is often used to support respiratory health, soothe skin infections, and to avoid insect bites.
  • Eucalyptus globulus: Globulus has the highest concentration of cineole and is used for the same purposes as radiata, especially supporting respiratory infections, sinus congestion, a stuffy nose, etc.

Learn more about the different types of eucalyptus here. Other varieties of eucalyptus, like citriodora, are better for muscle and joint paint or repelling insects.
