Homemade Whipped Honey Recipe + 4 Flavor Variations
If you have crystallized honey on hand, you're ready to learn how to make whipped honey! Creamed honey seriously couldn't be easier to make and tastes heavenly spread on toast or drizzled over yogurt! Learn how to make your own whipped honey at home with a jar of crystallized honey and a stand mixer. That's it!
Equipment
- 1 mason jar
- 1 skinny spatula
Ingredients
Option 1: All Crystallized Honey
- 1 cup crystallized honey may cause the whipped honey to be slightly gritty
Option 2: Liquid Honey with Seed Honey
- 1.5 tbs crystallized honey or storebought creamed honey
- 1 cup liquid honey
Instructions
- In the bowl of your stand mixer, add your crystallized honey (or combination of seed honey and liquid honey).
- Using the whisk attachment, whip the honey at medium speed for about 10 minutes to start. Scrape down the sides and rub the creamed honey between your fingers to feel for sugar crystals. If there is still a lot, continue mixing for an additional 10 minutes. (Note: If using all crystallized honey, you may not be able to break down all the crystals. Try thinning it out with extra liquid honey for the smoothest consistency.)
- If you prefer a thicker honey, continue whipping for another 10-20 minutes.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store in a cool, dark place.

The yield for this recipe is just over 1 cup of creamed honey (17 TBS). Since the whipping process will add so much air, you may find that you can get more than 17 tablespoons out of your creamed honey!
To make whipped honey, you need at least some crystallized honey. You can use either 100% crystallized honey or add some crystallized or creamed honey to liquid honey.
This is called seed honey and you'll need about 1.5 T of crystallized or creamed honey to 1 cup of liquid honey.
Depending on the type of honey you use, the final color will flavor. Naturally light types of honey will become almost white. In these photos, you'll see the wildflower honey I used turned a pale beige color.
Check for grittiness at least a few times while you're mixing. If you're still noticing lots of crystals, keep whipping. If you're using all crystallized honey, it's unlikely to break it all down during whipping. Consider adding extra liquid honey to thin it out for a smoother, creamier consistency.
Although you can make whipped honey with just liquid honey, it will most likely collapse and sink down during storage. For a thick, creamy consistency that lasts, use at least a small amount of crystallized honey.
Store creamed honey in a cool, dark place in an airtight container. It will be naturally thick and very creamy.

Add 1 T of ground cinnamon to 1 cup of honey.Vanilla Creamy Honey
