Dark Chocolate Covered Hazelnuts
With a satisfying crunch and classic flavor combination, homemade dark chocolate covered hazelnuts are an easy, delicious treat any time of the year! This version includes an optional sprinkle of salt on top to bring out extra flavor. Perfect for the holidays or anytime you want a sweet treat!
Equipment

- Sheet pan
- Parchment paper
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole hazelnuts
- 1 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt or flaky sea salt, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300F.
- Line a baking pan with parchment paper. Spread hazelnuts in an even layer. Roast for 5-7 minutes.2 cups whole hazelnuts
- In a microwave-safe bowl, add the chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring after each one. Stop when the chocolate is fully melted.1 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips, 1 tbsp coconut oil
- Add all of the toasted hazelnuts to the bowl and stir well to combine.
- Place spoonfuls of the chocolate hazelnut mixture on the sheet pan. (In these photos, I made large clusters and got about 15. If you make them smaller, you can get closer to 24.)
- Sprinkle with sea salt, if you'd like.1/2 tsp kosher salt
- Place the sheet pan in the fridge and allow it to set until hard (ideally 30 minutes or longer).
- Serve and enjoy!

Then, microwave 1 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips with 1 tbsp coconut oil in 30 second increments. Stir after each interval until liquid and glossy. Transfer the roasted hazelnuts to the bowl of melted chocolate and stir to combine. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture on parchment paper. I got about 14 large ones or you can get approximately 24 smaller ones. Sprinkle with sea salt or kosher salt and refrigerate until firm.
