Preserving food is one of my very favorite hobbies! Not only is it a great way to save some money and make the most of the produce your garden, but it’s just plain fun.
I love trying to figure out what to do with too much dill or too many apples. This abundance leads us to get creative and try new flavor combinations and recipes.
Plus, food preservation ties us to the people who can before us who had to preserve food to survive. We’re fortunate today to be able to get anything we need at the grocery store at any time, but it feels good to remember these people and follow in their foot steps.
In this section, you’ll find a wide range of posts about putting food up for later. These are a few of the methods I like to use and that you’ll find on this site:
– Freezing food
– Canning
– Drying
– Dehydrating
– Infusing (extracts, sugars, flavored vinegars, herb salts, syrups)
– and much more!
