We love our linky party blogging buddies! Linky parties are ways for bloggers to share recent and favorite posts on another blog. I love them because they help me find my new favorite blogs, recipes, and tips! It’s such a nice way to build community in the blogging world and I love it when linky parties help me find new friends here, too.

There are different parties for different purposes and throughout the whole week!

What are linky parties?

If you’re not familiar with this term, you’re probably confused about what a linky party actually is. Really, they’re ways for bloggers to collaborate and grow together.

The parties are typically hosted by 1-4 different bloggers who commit to hosting a linky party. Most parties are every week, although some are biweekly or monthly. You’ll visit a specific page on the person’s blog for that week where the blogger will add an intro and usually some links to their own content and some of the most popular posts from the previous party.

Then, you’ll see a linky party tool, like InLinkz, where you can share links to your posts. Most bloggers have rules about the type of content you can share and how many posts in a given week.

You’ll need to backlink to the post somehow, whether that’s through linking directly to each post or creating a page like this that you automatically insert at the bottom of every post.

It’s also good practice to visit a handful of the other posts linked in the post and leave a comment or word of encouragement. These links are all from other bloggers trying to grow their blogs, just like you!

Are they good for SEO?

That’s a great question and one I don’t have a complete answer for. I’ve seen a lot of people bash linky parties in Facebook groups for being duplicate content or link-sharing schemes, which Google penalizes.

However, many of the people running these linky parties on their blogs have fantastic blogs with great traffic and revenue. Plus, I find them to be a great way to connect with other people who may want to collaborate with you, too.

Of course, use your own discretion. You don’t have to participate at all or you could choose to engage with one or two to test them out.

If you have a linky party you’d like me to share or participate in, please send me an email!
